Why place all the blame on the Japanese? The west is no different. The games that flop there pretty much flop here, as well. If I'm wrong, do point out the exceptions.

So is it the "afro" or the "dude" that bothers you? Frankly, I find him to be a breath of fresh air in what would otherwise be as cliched as normal.

Yeah I think he has this comedic look to him. I'm pretty sure there will be humorous moments with him.

 

@axumblade - Haha this dude seems like comedy and the complete opposite of Barret.

LOL I wouldn't be surprised either. Just about every anime I see has a black guy rocking the fro or some Jamaican braids. I have yet to see one with a different hairstyle, if I have I wouldn't remember.

@Slimebeast - Don't be surprised through the course of the game if you get attached to the chocobo and watch it grow only to have the guy fry him and eat him. If Square-Enix does this I wouldn't be surprised.
