You kinda contradict yourself here and your latter bolded statement is totaly incorrect , the XBOX 360 - Halo 3 doesn't = PS3 that would be like saying the XBOX 360 has everything the PS3 does + Halo 3 on top ...not true . The PS3's incentive is devided upon a range of games of good quality and apeal , exclusive titles which you won't find on any console. It's not like the average gamer will be playing one or two titles for the life of their $200-$400 purchase . I don't know why such an emphasis is being put on particular titles it's the libary that sells the console indefinetley , individual titles for the most part only give short term boosts. |
I specifically said in my post, "whether that has any significance or not I won't get into", meaning I'm not going to vouch for the article, I'm just trying to understand what he was saying because a lot of different reasonings are being thrown out. The PS3 right now has no identity, or I should say it has far too many without any stepping up. That is because the PS brand's true identity has always rested on Gran Turismo, and rightfully so. It is a critical and commercial success, and has transcended past merely videogames into pop culture.
For you to take my 360 and PS3 comparison so literally is showing me you have no idea what I was trying to get at in the first place. I'm aware they have different games. I'm not trying to say that PS3 needs Halo 3. I'm saying it needs IT'S Halo 3. Don't you find it odd that the PS3 doesn't have one title that is more popular than two multiplats (going on three) you can find on two other platforms? Where is the identity there? The PS3 brand is still being represented by GTA right now, which is odd because it's no longer timed exclusive. Microsoft acquired a day and date with GTA, but they still managed their identity as the place you go for Halo. Sony has allowed Polyphony to take probably a little too much time with GT5 from a sales perspective. GT5 Prologue obviously took way too much of their time.
