congrats and as for PSn it's your connection ,,,I have no problem in PSN I usually download demos (800mb) around 12 min.(i have 10 Mbit/sec high speed internet)
also what TV are you playing the games on?
get:

killzone 2
lbp
ratchet and clanck future and booty(future 2 will come out this year )
motorstorm 2
and save money for 09 as there are lots of good games coming out in 09
