"What ever happened to the Shin Megami Tensei PS3 title, any rumblings from Atlus Japan at all or did they get eaten by demons?
AJ: Sadly, this too is just a rumor, but it would certainly be an exciting development. And it would certainly make me feel better about the answer to the first question in this interview."

But... it was announced.
I mean this guy is just from the American division right?
I mean Sony announced it in 05.

How can it go from "announced game" to "rumor".

I always thought it was just rumored.

Maybe the announcement was wrong or mistranslated here, but Sony has that title listed. I have no freaking clue on what to think of it anymore. It's been more than 3 years. Money is probably the issue. They did make like 3 MegaTen games on the PS2 after that "announcement."
|
Yeah... and the announcement happened back when we thought the PS3 was going to kick ass. (Sales wise.)
Which is why I think it was canceled... the assets are probably just in the company database incase they ever decide to go back to it.
|
Sony did say they have at least 2 un anounced exclusive RPGs to anounce this year. There is a strong chance that one of them might be SMT game. I hope So.
|
But it was announced.
I'd put the odds at unlikely at best.
Despite rave reveiws the game still isn't the biggest seller. Nor have they ever been the most impressive technically.... and for whatever reason all anybody focus on review wise when it comes to PS360 is graphics. If the graphics suck, goodbye review scores.
Really atlus is in a tough spot.

They could do what Nocturne did. With the cel-shading and the unique art style and what not. I would like to point out Tales of Vesperia which wasn't that visually impressive technically but had good use of cel-shading. I doubt Tales games are that much more expensive to make then the SMT/Persona games are.
|
I'm really not a fan of Tales of Versperia's art style.
Fun game... but I think the cell shading is kinda inconsistant from the character models, the character portraits and the scenes.
Maybe it's just how the main characters looks just don't match his voice and personality at all.
The pipe smoking dog is cool though.
