Doubtful, if you look at the current standings. In a month or two Wii will be the dominant "platform" (as devs see it, treating PS360 as one "platform" as they do), so even combining their efforts will yield more, and make for a closer race, but not to victory

 

Aside from the fact that more marketshare and blu-ray support are the only things that a unified PS360 platform would have over the 360 itself. It wouldn't bring anything particularly compelling to the table.

 

Equally, Nintendo will have a leg up next gen (whether they blow it or not remains to be seen), so if Sony and/or Microsoft don't adapt to the new rules of the game, it'll be another cakewalk for Nintendo in gen 8
