squil, Nintendo will keep the Wii around as long as people keep buying it. They dropped the GC because sales were so low. The GBA was still selling well into the DS's life, so Nintendo kept that around until sales finally started to drop. So it will be the market that decides how long the Wii lasts into its successor. Same with the DS.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
