Also interesting to see they made about 50% more during the PS1 years than during the PS2 years.

 

The chart isn't adjusted for inflation so it isn't a good tool to extract conclusions from. All it really says is Nintendo has always known how to make money, Sony's loss leading model isn't the more profitable way to operate in the market and that Microsoft has finally turned a corner.

Good point, though that just makes the fact that their PS1 numbers are so much higher than their PS2 numbers even stranger.  And I'd wager that even with inflation, the PS2-era profits have been entirely nulled by the PS3-era losses.
