PacMan for the Atari 2600 comes in second to ET -- using the process established in the OP.
A lot of hype -- but they rushed development.

Personal taste is fine. But to those who mentioned Wii Sports, that game is not universally considered abysmal, which I believe was the meaning of this thread.
