i was expecting a drop yes. say around 50%

but not a plummet.

82% is a plummet.

It's a post-launch drop - no different really to what was expected. Typical weekly sales in the uk (aside from DS) are ~25k .

couldn't agree more with ioi, it is not that bad.

I'm not saying it is good, more that last week was overly high (as expected - most hyped and well-stocked launch of all time) while this week is more typical. In fact I think it will drop back to ~20k for most of the year. Anyone thinking it would overtake Wii / 360 any time soon and keep posting big numbers was being a little naive

I agree with ioi, no one should expect the PS3 to overtake the Wii or the 360. I don't believe Sony will even be making as many as 10 million PS3 units this year, much less selling each one. The PS3 is pretty much dead in the water as far as taking first place goes... people always say the PS3 will come back in 2008 and stuff, but I just don't see how considering that the Wii is only going to continue to increase it's huge gap and the 360 is already lightyears ahead. People act like the Wii and 360 will just stop selling altogether and that the PS3 will start selling millions per month when it can't even do that on launch weeks.

Anyway, I'm ranting.... I wouldn't consider this drop bad, but it certainly follows the recent trends we've been seeing with the JP and US launch.
