ChichiriMuyo:
"Coltan" wars have been cited in several TV serials lately, and this has surely tickled some bloggers.
The metals contained in it, including tantalium, are used also in electronics, but as uses are various, so are sources, Congo isn't the sole producer, so I agree that remaining generic for all other devices, while explicitly citing Playstation is extremely libellous.
BTW most end-users aimed complex devices producers don't use directly the mineral, they buy condensers from components producers, so, unless Sony directly produces tantalium condensers, explicitly hinting at it, unless first demonstrating it knowingly buys condensers from producers using war zones minerals, is gratuitous if not worst.
Besides, components producers buy highly refined metals and other elements from specialized factories, they don't buy raw ores.
There are real and big chemical companies that are accused of buying ores without caring too much about their sources, but that blogger strangely omits to mention even the biggest of them, Bayer.
Finally, coltan price rise and higher interest in extracting it wherever it's found, isn't due to PS2 production alone, every electronics producer that uses those condensers is indirectly responsible and amongst them, cellphone producers are much heavier users of them, once more accusing only Sony of even only indirect moral responsibility while omitting all the others is highly biased and derogatory, it's like accusing only a single car maker of being the main responsible of urban pollution and traffic.
