Kyros gave a good argument for the PS3.
The only reason they'd pick the PS3 is for the following:
1) Money from Sony to develop IP 'moneyhatting'
2) PSN game which wasn't allowed on XBLA or WW
3) Multi-platform
Other than this, there are no real good reasons to make a game for the PS3. Exclusivity on the PS3 is a horrible idea, and the worst of the 3 consoles for such a proposition (bad install base, hard to develop for, poor software attach ratios).
However, as others have said, if your going to make a big blockbuster HD game, you NEED the PS3 to ensure profitaiblity - you can't ignore the ~20m users, as they will most likely buy your game at a 2:1 or 5:3 ratio against the X360.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
