This has been interesting. The Wii was sort of Nintendo's give and take system. They were sort of giving up the idea of being number one and competing in the hi-tech departments, just trying to stay profitable with alternate technology and strong first party titles. I don't even think they expected the insane success of their system. And now that they are huge, they are under pressure probably from the 3rd parties to supply the development tools, the graphics, networking of the big boys. Despite how great it is and cheap to make a Wii game. Alot of companies bet on online gaming, amazing graphics by buying expensive tools to create those things. They don't want to simply abandon those investments. But ignoring the market that Wii opened up is also to great a loss. So I think there is pressure for Nintendo to meet them halfway. Nintendo is now seeing the chance to lead this industry again, and that's going to require alot of changes as it's been quite a few years.
