Yeah, I remember CD's and DVD's had one of those scratch proof coats too. Time will tell.
If you are talking about the specific circular, deep all around scratch that's a differen thing from the normal wear and tear optical media goes through.
@Jo: Jaspers are looking quite promising... a few months more and we'll know how well they last. Maybe in time for Star Ocean ;) I know what you mean with electronic's bad luck, it's happened to me too.
