This is a very tired and worn debate, but for the authors consideration a few critical points. Must be presented so that they understand where the critical errors in thinking are.
1. Enchanted Arms should not be used as an example using this sites data. That data is both poor, and grossly incomplete. Your argument is only as good as your data. There was a time when this could not be avoided, but the PS3 now has three or four titles in the genre to use.
2. Do not assume that the genre is favored by PS3 owners. Remember the console had virtually no representation of this genre for twenty months. So it is a real question as to whether the console has any real fan base let alone a dedicated one. Do not underestimate how those twenty months shaped the PS3s user base.
3. Use the market leader as a standard to measure by. Compare the performance of the 360 against the Wii. The 360 is performing admirably. Lost Odyssey tops Dragon Quest. Last Remnant, Blue Dragon, and Infinite Undiscovery top Symphonia. The qualification for success in this market is obviously not a million plus in sales. Not all genres are packed with multimillion sellers.
4. The 360 is a known verifiable format in the West. Just look at the break down. The console often sells two hundred, three hundred, or even five hundred thousand copies of a game in this genre in the West. The only game of note to do so according to sites charts is Vakyria Chronicles. Simply put Microsoft can export this genre this generation it isn't entirely clear that Sony can even do that. Especially considering how much less popular the hardware is especially in North America which is the friendliest export market.
