E74 isn't covered by the warranty, the RRoD is.  He's telling you to red ring your system and then send it in.

Also, I'm pretty sure this isn't as widespread of serious as the OP makes it out to be.  I could google search people getting hit by flaming bird shit and come back with a lot of responses too.

I checked your theory out. If you google e74 the first 50 pages of hits are predominantly about the 360. Sadly, I failed to find even one account of someone being struck by flaming bird shit.

 

Then you're obviously doing it wrong.
