Some people don't like it if others over hype something. They feel that hype can reach a certain level where it generates an expectation for a gaming experience so unrealistic that it can never be fully realised when the gamer actually gets his hands on the game. Thus leading to the inevitable 'let down' phase. Another reason would be that some posters don't want to suffer a backlash when sales fail to fit the predictions of some of their fellow supporters, so they're probably asking for the hype to be toned down. Further still would be the group that don't understand the hype alltogether. (Like the poster CAL4M1TY above me). Such posters have no interest in the title, and may even be angry that it's taking the limelight, while other, more interesting games in their opinion, are being overlooked. A myriad of reasons for sure. On another note: The word flop is being overused. I don't think some posters even fully understand what the significance of the word entails, or have, at any rate, meaningfully thought about it. |
Hype is what an individual thinks of it. If you think a god is in KZ2 based of what some random internet user stated, you'd surely be dissappointed but if you think you are about to witness some amazing graphics on a console based on what some random person posted, you're probably right.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.
It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler
