Halo 3 does 4 player offline split screen/coop.
Killzone 2 does 1 player offline....
Obviously to someone who loves offline multi-player one is far superior to the other, can you guess which one? 
Also consider more than 2/3rds of people in America play offline multi-player, factor that when you consider than only 20% of console gamers play online when you consider marketability. 
(Still buying the hot metal box Killzone 2 first day)
