All they are doing is getting rid of inventory for the new model. They must have a lot in inventory if they are discounting so early.

I don't know.....I think that even though the new model is coming out, this is an indication of a "launch" for the new version. New product, New price.

What I am unsure of is, whether nintendo is really planning on shifting resources to the wii, and getting out of the handheld market. I think that nintendo would be making a big mistake so I doubt that they will really be doing this

Nintendo isn't doing anything close to getting out of the handheld market. They said thay'd be shifting more resources to Wii development. That's all. They'll still make a hell of a lot of DS games that sell extremely well.

The comment of the shifting of resources leads me to beleeive that if this comment was sincere, then nintendo is slowly going to edge out of the handheld market, b/c they see more promise with the wii.  A big possibility of continuing to produce DS's for the LT when attention is elsewhere is that it will become an unprofitable product.  The handheld market is always going to be there, always part of the picture, so imo, their statement was either BS or possibly a mistake in corporate strategy
