Why is it insane? The 360 will probably always cost less to manufacture, so why wouldn't it always be cheaper than the PS3?

 

it is insane because price matter quite a lot (particularly when u are the cheaper console of the market) and because we are in an economic crysis and because the only true technical advantage of the PS3 is the BR player that we know is not that important for gaming and gamers.

Just check France sales for xmas period after the 2nd Xbox360 price drop and u will understand what I mean ...
