Name a shooter with a strong narrative, lol.  I can't think of any since Half-life 2.  Maybe FEAR.

 

No offense, but a game without a clear ending and to which Valve has stated that they didn't know where to end it, but promised to give all the answers after episode 3, doesn't really qualify as strong narrative to me >_>

It was more of "let's invent something cool without really knowing where to lead it to and especially not how to end it..."

HL doesn't have a good story. It has a decent story that's told very well, and that shouldn't be discounted.
