Yeah. Never played the original Persona but I heard from a 1UP podcast that the combat in Persona 1 is very slow and tedious compared to the relatively fast paced battle systems Persona 3 and 4. It also doesn't help that the localization was considered horrendous. If the rumor is true, they will probably make changes to the games. Atlus would also be smart to relocalize the game not only to make a signicantly better translation but also, get the original characters back that were in the Japanese version. It would also help to make the combat faster and less tedious.

Yeah the battle's are REALLY slow. Some battles actually take up to 20mins. This happens especially if you try to get spirit cards from enemies but end up failing over and over and then you actually HAVE to fight them. Also there isn't too much times for grinding since you usually only fight in mazes. So the enemies in the beginning of the maze are always harder because you aren't at high enough levels so this also contributes to long battles. Also if you just got a new persona it always starts out weak making you weak as well, but you still want to use it so it gets stronger. The thing I like though is that you could always repeat what attacks you chose in your previous turn, and don't have to bother choosing them again. Random encounters don't happen too often as well. I probably get about 3-4 on one floor of a maze. The game does have some issues, but I kinda like its slow pace. Also there are many things that it excels in too. While it is the worst in the series imo, it is still a good game, and I'm happy to see it enhanced/remade to play portibily.
