I'm fine with a nine. Assuming it actually were the best FPS ever (doubtful, but still ...) on principle alone I wouldn't give it higher than a nine. Tens, to me, are sacred -- for something that truly revolutionizes the industry. Ocarina of Time, Doom, or whatever. At this point in the FPS life cycle, they're pretty much all copycats anyway.
The *value* of a 10 review score is diminished when every other game can get it (Grand Theft Auto IV, I'm lookin' at you). It's not like a 9/10 is a bad score.
Seems some people will either (1) never be happy, or (2) lack that inner voice that reminds them that trolling Internet forums to bash games they've never played makes them look like a dumb ass.
