If this generation has proven anything, it's that graphics and power do not lead to the most popular and beloved console. Hardcore gamers keep holding onto the belief that violent games with beautiful graphics will change the fate of a console. But the market has changed, and these type of games no longer have the influence they used to have.
Sure, there are some successes here and there, but overall these type of hyped games won't lead to what is wished for. When you look at the hardcore releases, they get good sales fairly often. But all too often these large software sales do not equate to high hardware sales. I came to realize this when GTA IV was released and noticed that the trend has continued since then with the exception being what happened with MGS4.
