I think Fallout is awesome, although Fallout 3 falls at the lowest side of Fallout awesomenous. I will admit that Fallout 3 does have several gameplay tweaks which make it far better than Oblivion.
The fact that I have trouble finishing the game because it feels like I'm playing Oblivion has nothing to do with my opinion of Fallout 3. If you never played Oblivion, I would more than suggest you should play Fallout 3.
