that is part of the fun of playing games in my opinion - I often get bored by games that present no challenge to me at all, but still there are times games get too challenging for my taste early on (like Warhawk)
my definition of "casual" and "hardcore" gamers is this:
- casual gamers like games that are easy to get into and easily get discouraged by games with too step learning curves
- hardcore games like games that are hard to master and easily get bored by games that take the player by the hand at all times
- both of these types of players represent extremes and the faaaar majority of all gamers are a shade between those
hence the ultimate games are easy to get into and hard to master, which are the games I prefer
