Why I think the PS3 won't be discontinued (and why I may be wrong)

@ bdbdbd- i agree the Wii is the dominant console right now...But i don't know where the notion comes from that it has sold by an amount that couldn't be caught by the other 2 consoles. I mean obviously whether the Wii will be caught depends on its future sales and the other consoles future sales, which none of us know. A lot of people who buy Wii's don't stick to owning just a Wii too. Who's to say what the numbers will be in 4-5 years? If the media would stop blowing a console that has 6 good games maybe we would see some different trends. Oh well, the Wii is what it is, I don't knock it. People who love gaming like myself for the most part won't be satisfied by owning only a Wii though. I had to sell mine after putting in over a 100 hrs on Smash and Twilight Princess.

Anyways, even if the Wii isn't caught by the other 2 consoles, i think its safe to say the PS3 will overtake the 360 in sales sooner than later. There are too many ps2 owners waiting to upgrade when their favorite title comes out on PS3 or there is a price drop. In Japan, the PS3 hasn't sold a fraction yet of what it will eventually sell. Not everyone likes to get rid of their electronics every 4 years like people in the US.

I just can't believe the negativity directed toward Sony by a lot of the gaming community with what they have done for gaming over the past 15 years. Treason at the highest levels IMO haha
