Doubtful. Where does the funding come from? Making games for the PS3 doesn't come cheap. Xbox 360 remains the most likely choice given that they have had some success on the console, Microsoft still desires to be relevant in Japan, Microsoft's past willingness to fund their games, their DS games have bombed and the PSP traditionally hasn't been great at pushing software. The only other possibility is the Wii. |
It is not any more expensive to make a game on the PS3 than the 360 -- just look at Valkyrie Chronicles. And they wouldn't need to worry about not having had prior success on the PS3 because original JRPGs sell better on the PS3 than the 360. Just look at White Knight Chronicles (and Famitsu didn't even give it a 10), but it has already become the best selling hd rpg in Japan of this gen. If you only count White Knight Chronicles Japanese totals in its first two weeks, it has already sold almost ca third of what this site lists as the worldwide sales total for Lost Odyssey. White Knight Chonicles=280,000; LostOdyssey = 870,000. At this rate, I think WKC is headed for the 2 million mark with ease.
Heavens to Murgatoids.
