I refuse to believe that this is as exclusive to the Wii as many of you think though.
The "super hardcoure shooters" generally aren't that super hardcore. There's someone who is dead on awesome at playing it, but they will defeat you like hell in MKWii/SSBB as well.
The Super Hardcore shooters aren't the main sellers on PC/Ps3/X360. Is CoD 4 super hardcore? Not really. Halo 3? Not by a long shot. Left 4 Dead? Far from it. Team Fortress 2? I'm not even going to comment...
You see the good things about the Wii, and they're correct, but you may be a bit blurred about the other machines.
Let me give an example.
In Mario Kart Wii, I can be so much better than an enemy, that we can race 15 times, and I'll win every race. There's actually several people I can do this with in a normal race.
If you take Team Fortress 2, is anyone going to be that much better than me? No, not by a long shot.
In that sense, Mario Kart Wii is much more for the people who know their way around than the inexperienced (compared to TF2)
