Contry to whateverybody else believes (except you Squillium) IMHO the Xbox 360 can "span" a decade

It just has to last until Q1 of 2014 for me to be right!

but seriously this gen already looks different from past gens, 2nd and 3rd will soon overtake 2nd and 3rd from last generation.

I don't want to be "condemned" for saying this but I think the Wii has reached such a new crowd of people the majority of the previous 150M+ consoles owners will upgrade to the PS3 + 360 excluding extra growth the market gets.

If the Wii is selling primarily to new gamers then we have already faced the worst collapse in the videogame industry in history. The Wii is tracking at (basically) the same rate as the PS2, and the XBox 360 and PS3's improvement over the XBox and Gamecube could be attributed to a growth in the number of gamers who buy multiple systems (based primarily on how different the Wii is from the PS3/XBox 360).

Well first off the Wii is tracking much higher than the PS2, I don't know how much higher though, might check that out later.

and in 2 & 3 years the PS3 and 360 have already (combined) outsold the GC and Xbox combined.

There are new gamers, but from what I have personally seen the number of multiple system households has increased dramatically and quite a few gamers have bought systems earlier this generation then they bought previous generation systems.

Well I agree with you on that one, does seem to be more duel ownership this generation.
