The school system (essentially) works in a one-size fits all fashion where the only thing they consider about a student is their age; and quite often teachers would rather spend their time trying to shape the political opinions of their students than to teach them the fundamentals of their subject.

 

 

 Unless you take higher courses. In mddle school I was "gifted" so I took the higher, better classes. Same in high school with Honors and AP courses. The teachers actually care about you, and generally, they are the best and brightest of the faculty as well. So as long as the kid works hard, and can handle the harder courses, then they will be fine.
