I never really got comfortable with 3D gaming. I always felt most of the franchises that transitioned over were better off in 2D, Mario, Metroid and Zelda included. Plus you've still got great 2D coming out in the form of Muramusa, Viewtiful Joe, Alien Hominid, King of Fighters XII, etc.
