I must agree with you. It would be easier to say that there was no spin if Microsoft never backed any HD format to begin with. So I see where you were coming from. Yes, HD-DVD failed, but no one really knew the outcome at the time. But if Microsoft was willing to take a chance on an unproven format before, why not take the chance on an advancing format now? Go figure.
