There is nothing to argue really.

Im not trying to make a political statement here. Just saying that masses tend to be like sheep. If every 20th person buying Gears 1 and 2 says "Ok, patriotism and war is not in now. Instead ill go and buy another type of game" for gears 3...and gears 2 sells 7 million...gears 3 loses ~40000 in sales.

Trust me I know what I'm talking about. I grew up in former Yugoslavia during a war... Last thing anyone wants to do there right now is have anything to do with the word war.

I guess your one of those nuts that think since Obama is bringing a Wii to the White House there will be a dramatic uptick of sales for the Wii?  This kind of thinking is seriously flawed.  When was the last time you went to buy a game and thought, since the troops are over in Iraq I will be patriotic and buy Gears 2?  I look at the gameplay and buy it on that purpose and I am sure 99%  of people out there do the same.

If anything, those troops returning will buy the shootem ups more so since they are home and have more sparetime.  Giving the game an uptick in sales.

I will buy anything that remotly has to do with shooting killing things. Eved Deer hunter...lol. I'm just talking about what I think generic public will do. Not jsut gears...COD as well may see a trend where it will sell less than its predeccessors. But that could be because they are milking the series at this point too :)
