Meh, what do you really expect them to do?
They could either spend a lot of animation time having them melee you like crazy and then waste a lot of the AI programmers time trying to figure out just when the player is trying to cheese their way through the game or they could just let the occasional player who wants to cheese their way through the game cheese their way through the game.
I really doubt everyone is going to exploit this.
