2 simple reasons both related to just fanboyism.
1. When announced for Wii people saw it a PS2 exclusive coming to Wii and hoping that means many others follow and to gloat in PS3 fans face.
2. Sony fans wanting the PSP to be amazing. Because of the PSP's sales when the game came out in Japan they all bring up MH as a reason for devolopers to make more games for PSP cause they will sell amazing.
