Two rumors have indicated "incremental upgrades" for both Sony and Microsoft, consoles that are stronger, but sit in the same ballpark. For Microsoft, the rumor comes in the form of "Forwards Compatibility." The release of late-gen 360 games that could be played, in enhanced form, on the 360's successor. 360 would be the game's "minimum requirements" and 720 would be the game's "recommended requirements" with a noticeable jump in between, but that would indicate ballpark statistics (as it would be very hard to program a game with minimum requirements of, say, 24 MB of RAM and 64 MB of V-RAM, then recommended requirements of 256 MB RAM and 256 MB V-RAM, with 750 MHz minimum processor, and 2.5 GHz optimal)
With Sony, there's the rumor about the PS4 simply being the PS3 without the RSX, and with more SPE's to accommodate, and then accentuate, the console's abilities
And motion controls are the future. Joysticks didn't last long after the control pad was introduced, why would the control pad last?
