The 360 has already seen a sizeable increase from 2007/2008, so the only way for it to see another increase of that size would be for public perception of the console to change, and I really dn't see how. Even a price drop wouldn't do it as it's already cheaper than the Wii. It won't be long before the 360 runs out of hardcore gamers who want it. MS's next console will indeed be released by 2011. If they waint any longer then they cede the advantage of a headstart as both Sony and Nintendo will release by 2012 at the latest, and I don't think that's something they want to do.

Half of 2008 was spent pre-price cut, with 360 selling less than the PS3. Things didn't really kick into overdrive for 360 until a little while after the price cut. The effects of NXE+Netflix are just beginning - and I'm sure there's more unannounced stuff coming (in addition to the known stuff like halo wars). 360 will undoubtably sell better in the first half of 2009 than it did in the first half of 2008. After that one of two things will happen - either PS3 makes a smart move and sells better than 360 for 2H09, or it doesn't - I happen to believe it doesn't - which means a great 1H09 and 2H09 for 360, and hence better sales than 08.
