@aavidbacon:A niche market can not be a larger market... You could say the Wii is the larger market, and that the PS3 and 360 are now in the smaller niche HD console market...

For lack of a better source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niche_market
"A distinct niche market usually evolves when a potential demand for a product or service is not met by any supply, or when a new demand arises due to changes in society, technology, or the general environment."
That´s my point. The market reached by the Wii wasn´t contemplated by the maninstream. Nintendo understood that and suplied what they wanted and Tcharannn, discovered a huge market.
The thing is, like you said, the wii type of market is becoming mainstream, just as traditional gaming was. The difference here is that the aproach to gamming didn´t change, but how people interact. Everyone will have a Wii, but still think videogames are a waste of time, only for Nerds. They will say "but the wii is fun...", justifiyng their purchase, but will likelly not jump to gamming as you did back then when you first played Mario in a NES or SNES(like I did, but it was Sonic in a Master System).
