Niche titles, usually, hard to gain new fans. The difficult thing is to actually "showing" them how the game is played.

We want new gameplay, but with new gameplay, often creates new gene. People are usually not going to jump onto a brand new title not knowing what it's like. It's a lot of money.

All said and done. Why don't the developers and publishers create more videos of gameplay? The one where it shows the actually in game and the small bubble showing what/how the player is doing. It is a great way to actually allow fans to show their friends, too. Online video services such as Youtube is free, so, it cost them nothing other than the cost of creating the video.

The more popular titles don't have this kind of problem, since the players themselves often make the videos.

For games such as Dewy's Adventure, there are gameplay videos but that's not enough. They need some explanation, too. It's hard to recommend to people when you can't readily show them what the gameplay is like when the kind of game you're trying to recommend is a love-it-or-hate-it.

You surely won't feel comfortable recommending something like that and then it turns out your friend hated it.
