Like I said, I'll bet both my nuts that SC2 will blow away MKWii, if it cocmes out before Fall.

You are going to bet your nuts.

Okay, let's set this shit down in detail, then.

When we say "blow Mario Kart Wii" away, do we mean within that same timeframe? From, say, SC2's launch to the end of the year? From January to the end of the year? From Mario Kart Wii's launch until the end of 2009?

There are three timeframes to consider here. Pick one or more based on within which timeframe you think SC2 will top MKWii.

How much do you see Starcraft 2's single SKU selling by the end of the year?

Lifetime (it won't be three times the first one, mind)?

How do you reconcile your prediction with the likes of Wii Play? Wii Sports Resort? The looming shadow of Wii Sports?

I was thinking along the lines of the moment it's released until Jan. 1 for this year. As for the other thirds of the game, I say we count those at a 1/2 sale each. After all they are supposed to be as epic and badass as the first third....(Don't worry, the consoles will soon will half-ass copy that aspect of PC gaming as well, expansions that is).

This also includes the Wii games, I think Wii Sports will be a far tougher opponent than MK to be honest.

Wait, wait

You're not even saying that SC2 will outselll MKWii for the year? It's goign to outsell the game for its first nine months, during which it sold fourteen million copies?

Fourteen

Million

Copies

I'm saying that Mario Kart Wii will beat out Starcraft 2 in 2009. It will sell more this year than Starcraft 2 does.

If you think Starcraft 2 is goign to beat Wii Sports this year (we're looking at a possibility of thirty million units sold this year, with the floor being twenty-five) I don't knwo what to tell you. Do you mean it? Do you really expect Starcraft 2 to sell more than twenty-five million copies?

Or do you mean that you expect Starcraft 2 to beat Mario Kart Wii in the window from SC2's launch until the end of the year? That wouldn't make it the biggest game of the year, just the biggest game of August.
