no it won't.

and does sony care at this point in its consoles life cycle?

no they don't.

they do care about the net present value of their investment. Their investment has been on the market for 2 years and has nearly broken even. They will support their hardware for the next 7-8 years and end up making great profits on their original investment. Everyone will eventually want a ps3 if not now, certainly later. There will be more amazing games then most of us can afford.

end of story

They are nearly at the point of breaking even PER UNIT SOLD.  They still have an awfully long way to go before making back everything that the PS3 has cost them over the last couple of years.

OT: I think it's more than likely and probably before the end of March.  The momentum is certainly with Microsoft and Nintendo at the moment and things are going to get worse for Sony before they get better.

How could they be nearly breaking even if they lost 400 million last quarter?  Things like PS2 hardware, PSP hardware, software for all systems, accessories for all systems, and PSN actually make money you know.  Like you said they have a hell of a long way to go before making a profit on the investment, that will never happen, it is an impossibility.
