Oh, I dunno. I view Castlevania as a premier title still, from the perspective of a "hardcore" traditional gamer. Symphony of the Night was one of the best rated games on the PS1, after all -- in fact, it's one of the top 10 best rated games on the original Playstation.
Unless you just mean that 2D games should all be lower priced because they're 2D. In which case I strongly disagree.
I do want to point out, as a side note, that I totally agree with your point in the now-frozen format thread. Sony has some hugely succesful formats among their lemons, and I'd guess that one breakout hit format justifies the expense of 2-3 losing formats.
