So much hate for the blu-disc <3

Some people don't see a difference, I most certainly do :/ Not just fooling myself either. The last DVD we've rented was Fool's gold, and my roomate and I LITERALLY turned it off within the first 10 seconds of the movie, it opened up with what was supposed to be a gorgeous view of the ocean, and it was just... just bad. Were absolutely spoiled rotten, but movies, ESP one's showcasing scenery or well lit areas (our tv doesn't have the greatest black levels), MUST be in HD. People may not be able to see the differences side by side in some cases (tv's are a huge variable), but once you get used to HD, you almost (in our case certainly) can't go back. Our TV isn't that great mind you, but even upscaled DVD's on our PS3 (which is an amazing upscaler) are unwatchable sometimes :/ The audio is just icing on the cake.

See it's funny because there will be tech heads saying ''what the hell? How can he even watch that tv with those awful black levels. There's such a massive difference, that is just unwatchable''. In fact you yourself complain about your tv, yet then go on to say how moves have to be hd. Well if your tv has bad black levels and is worth complaining about you are probably getting a pretty rubbish picture. Only if you upgraded your tv would you in retrospect realise how bad the current one is. Yet retrospect doesn't get people to buy a product.

The fact is most people really don't seem to care that much about resolution. Tbh i've never even been entirely convinved the shift from vhs to dvd was because of image quality. For me personally it was about physical size, convenience of being able to skip chapters etc, having subtitles, extras with the discs etc. Blu-ray really only offers an improvement in picture, and it doesn't seem to be a necessary one.

People often use side by side comparisons or scroll overs to show the difference however while those show the actual difference it doesn't show what people perceive the difference to be. If you showed them a dvd, then a week later a blu-ray they would barely notice the difference.  If people do shift to blu-ray eventually it will simply be because they need a new player and why not get the newest one, or because they are forced as dvd releases stop.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.
