The PSP is having a disappointing year despite the success in Japan. It's looking like the PSP will fall well short of estimates for the fiscal year.

That is true, but Sony are now at least selling the PSP for a profit so even selling 1 helps. It might not help enough but it still helps. Sony just needs to launch their future products at a profit from the beginning, like Nintendo do, and then Sony will be fine.
