Ethernet is a better option. I use it for my Wii and laptop, as the online networks run faster than using Wi-Fi. If you have a cordless phone where you live, it may be on the same frequency as your router, which cuts and nulls your PS3's chances from receiving the signal. It does the same thing with my Wii, DS, and cell phone, but for some reason it does not affect my laptop. I would use Ethernet if I were you, unless you have a model that Sony took it out from
