Why does my DualShock 3 lose power even when it's not on?

Nope (well none that live with me), only me and the wife that lives here and she wouldn't touch anything video game related with a 10 foot pole.

 Longer than 10 foot? Are you crazy? Poles that long can't be controlled by any human. To go near any object with a pole with a length greater than 10 would result in the imminent destruction of said object.

What if.... one had... i don't know... found a way to control said pole with large wires and hooks on the ceiling to allow longer poles to be controlled?
