A number of high profile publishers

Examples? EA perhaps LOL. Everytime I hear high profile in these surroundings its a doomed company like Midway or whatever. As long as 360 and Ps3 games sell as they do we shouldn't have a problem. Those "high profile" publishers will see that they will have problems selling the 26 Game Party, Carnival games whatever.

There are simply not that many damn mini-games you can put into a package.

Personally I like the complex input scheme of the PS3/360 because it allows almost PC like games (and has brought some of the best games ever to those consoles). On the other hand it may not be a bad thing that a new variety of games comes up that doesn't utilize 17 buttons + 2 analog sticks, because this is really hard for newcomers.

On the other hand similar to movies, big-budget titles with cinematic looks and a good director, writer etc. are the future. They may simply not be as complex to control. Oh and a horde of minigames and attachements will also have their place.
