I don't think some of you understand just how ubiquitous DVD has become and how it relates to so many industries.
And like Commando pointed out, optical (and holographic) mediums that are aimed to replace Blu Ray are already deep in development.
DVD will eventually fade from global popularity but not at the hands of Blu Ray.
