That was exciting to watch. Eberle comes up big. He's had a great tournament so far. Edmonton fans are really going to enjoy him in a few years.
Canada had a poor effort today. I guess the high they had after beating the US made them too overconfident. Their powerplay, which previously had been unstoppable, seemed disjointed, disorganized. I dreaded going on the powerplay, since it looked so horrible.
Russia played very well. Even though they were one of the contenders for Gold, I thought Canada would have an easier time beating them, something to the tune of 3-1 or 4-2. That Goncharov fella is enjoyable to watch. He hits everyone and everything. And on top of all that, he scores. I do have to question Sergei Nemchinov though........why is Nikita Filatov not shooting when you're down 2-0? That was a very strange coaching decision.
99.9% of mistakes don't really matter in the long run, in a hockey game. Either the goalie stops it, the shot goes wide, or the puck hops away. But for that Russian player who iced it when he had space, he's part of that 0.1% of mistakes that cost you the game, possibly a Gold medal.
