1) The BluRay drive is too slow
2) The Cell is hard and expensive to develop for with poor middleware tools from Sony
3) The HDD is a $30 expense which will make it harder to ever be cheaper than the 360. It may not sound like much when the console is $400, but when it drops down to around the $199 mark, then it's around 15-20% of the entire console cost on the HDD alone. Microsoft learnt from the Xbox that it was a mistake to include a HDD in all SKUs, now it's Sony's turn.
